About Kathy Cocus – Business Development Director

As KEDA’s Business Development Director, Kathy works closely with firms in the Business Retention and Expansion program and provides oversight to the office’s PTAC program. She also provides direct counseling assistance in the Procurement Technical Assistance Center Program. Previously she served as the KEDA Business Recruitment and Retention Manager from October of 2001 through June of 2006 and the organization’s Interim Executive Director in 2006-2007. She led the organization through the Kitsap 20/20 process, expanding on key economic initiatives identified by the community.
Prior to her work at the KEDA, Ms. Cocus was Director of Development for the Kitsap Humane Society (KHS). In her four-year tenure at KHS, the development department’s revenues increased by 50% via successful fundraising events, direct mail campaigns, and marketing efforts. Kathy Cocus was the Executive Director of the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce for ten years and was part of a countywide effort to work with other communities in legislative, business and tourism issues.
Ms. Cocus also has extensive retail and teaching experience. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. She has lived in Kitsap County since 1981 and resides in Poulsbo.

Mary Jo has over 30 years’ experience in government contracting, most recently working as a Navy Deputy for Small Business, helping the Navy meet their small business goals and educating small business firms in obtaining certifications, marketing, and opportunities with the federal government.
